Steeleye Span, Below The Salt, LP UK Chrysalis 1972 - CHR 1008 

"Below the salt" refers to an ancient tradition that consisted of placing a large plate of salt, which few in the past could afford, in the center of the table. On the cover of the LP of Chrysalis from 1972, the photographic reconstruction by Henry Paccinotti made at the Elizabethan Rooms in London is beautiful. Among the songs, here appears the first version of "Gaudete" that reveals the chorality of the group.

"Below the salt", in italiano "sotto sale", fa riferimento a un'antica tradizione che consisteva nel porre un grande piatto di sale, che pochi nel passato potevano permettersi, al centro della tavola imbandita. Nella copertina dell'LP della Chrysalis del 1972 è bella la ricostruzione fotografica di Henry Paccinotti effettuata all'Elizabethean Rooms di Londra. Tra i brani, compare qui la prima versione di "Gaudete" che rivela la coralità del gruppo.
