Steeleye Span, Hark! The Village Wait,
LP AUS United Artists Records 1971 -
L34,188
The first album is published
by different publishers in different graphic designs, in this
Australian edition United Artists presents a cover whose texture is
identical to that of the following album "Please to see the King", thus
creating no small confusion. Even today, after more than thirty years,
listening is very pleasant and the arrangements are effective, the
drums are not too invasive and leave space for string instruments, such
as Terry Woods' mandolin. You can feel the genius of Ashley Hutchings
and Maddy Prior's voice, in songs like "The Blacksmith" and "Dark eyes
Sailor", is enchanting.
