Peter performs English and American songs on this album and takes a firm stand, in the liner notes, against the rampant chauvinism: musical traditions have no barriers. Various musicians collaborate on this album, including Dave Swarbrick, Royston & Heater Wood and the Watersons. The recording was made at Livingston Studios with the help of Nic Kinsey. The cover reproduces "The Snuff Taker", a painting by Pieter Van de Bellmaan, now preserved at the Victoria Street Gallery.
