The Transport, A Ballad Opera by Peter Bellamy, 2LP UK Free Reed 1977 - FRRD 021/022 

This is one of the most significant works of British folk, a "ballad opera" that tells the story of two convicts transported to Australia and which involves many artists including Mike Waterson (Henry Cabell), Norma Waterson (Susannah Holmes), Martin Carthy (The Turnkey), Nic Jones (The Father), June Tabor (The Mother), A L Lloyd (Abe Carman), Cyril Tawney (The Shantyman), Martin Winsor (The Convict), Vic Legg (The Coachman), The Watersons with Anthea Bellamy (The Transports). Peter Bellamy, author of all the lyrics and music, has the role of singer/narrator. The work, produced by Peter Bellamy, Dolly Collins and Nic Kinsey, was recorded in the London Livingston studios by Nick Kinsey. The vinyl version includes a booklet that is absent on the CD version. The graphics are by Peter Bellamy and Sue Dransfield.
