The end of the eighties saw the folk movement in crisis and June Tabor fell back on a jazz side that did not suit her at all. It was a soft, monotonous jazz without any authentic vibrations. On the album the singer was accompanied on the piano by Huw Warren, whose arrangements were frankly boring and predictable. Producer Joe Boyd did not do a good job on this occasion. The cover of Spark Ceresa based on a photograph by Robin Gillanders is banal.

La fine degli anni ottanta vedono il movimento del folk in crisi e June Tabor ripiega su un versante jazz che non le si addice affatto. Si tratta un jazz soft, monotono e privo di autentiche vibrazioni. Nel disco la cantante è accompagnata al pianoforte da Huw Warren, i cui arrangiamenti risultano francamente noiosi e prevedibili. Il produttore Joe Boyd non ha fatto un buon lavoro in questa circostanza. La copertina di Spark Ceresa sulla base di una fotografia di Robin Gillanders è stucchevole.
