Fotheringay, BBC Sessions, LP Japan BB (Alfa/RVI) 2013

In March 2013, Tokyo-based BB (Alfa/RVI) released this vinyl, in a limited edition of 500 copies, containing recordings that the Fotheringays made during some radio appearances on the BBC on 13 April 1970 (The Way I Feel, The Sea), 2 April (Nothing More, The Ballad Of Ned Kelly, Banks Of The Nile), 12 November (Gypsy Davey, The Lowlands Of Holland) and finally 18 November (Eppie Moray, Bold Jack Donahue, John The Gun, Wild Mountain Thyme). Among the compositions, the splendid versions of “The Sea” and “The Ballad of Ned Kelly” are particularly striking, as are those of “Eppie Moray” and “John The Gun”, which however were still in a state of development (the latter in particular is a less energetic version, even in Sandy’s voice, compared to other recordings).

Nel Marzo 2013 La BB (Alfa/RVI) di Tokyo pubblica, in un’edizione limitata a 500 copie, questo vinile contenente registrazioni che i Fotheringay hanno effettuato in alcune apparizioni radiofoniche alla BBC il 13 Aprile 1970 (The Way I Feel, The Sea), il 2 Aprile (Nothing More, The Ballad Of Ned Kelly, Banks Of The Nile), il 12 Novembre (Gypsy Davey, The Lowlands Of Holland) e infine il 18 Novembre (Eppie Moray, Bold Jack Donahue, John The Gun, Wild Mountain Thyme). Tra le composizioni colpiscono in particolare le splendide versioni di “The Sea” e “The Ballad of Ned Kelly”, così come quelle di “Eppie Moray” e “John The Gun”, che però erano ancora a uno stato di elaborazione (quest’ultima in particolare è una versione meno energica, anche nella voce di Sandy, rispetto ad altre registrazioni).
