Sandy Denny, 19 Rupert Street, LP UK Music On Vinyl 2011 – MOVLP462

The songs on this album were recorded by Sandy Denny and Alex Campbell in Glasgow on August 5, 1967, at the latter's house. Sandy's songs are beautiful but the quality of the recording is terrible, to the point that we wonder if the operation is legitimate. Granted: we are in a period in which the most disparate tapes come out of drawers but there are evidently limits. Producer Dave Cousin managed to obtain the original tape from Linde Carsten who is the author of the original recording thanks to a home device equipped with four channels. The whole thing has now been remastered but miracles cannot be performed. The cover, designed by John Hill Turner, contains a photograph of Sandy taken by Steve Wood.
