John Kirkpatrick &
Sue Harris, The Rose of
Britain's Isle, LP UK
Topic Records 1974 - 12TS247
The
album features a beautiful oil painting by Charles Simpson on the
cover. On the back, a presentation by John Watt highlights the
originality and the suggestiveness of the sound of Harris' oboe
together with that of Kirkpatrick's concertina, and the opinion seems
entirely shareable; the album is in fact beautiful and has been
acclaimed as album of the year by many folk magazines. The production
is by the usual Tony Engle and the recording took place at Livingston
Studios in Herts.
